Okay thanks guys.  I think that sometimes I forget about UAC because if I 
recognize the file name, I tend to click right through the UAC prompt as a 
formality; I double clicked it, so of course I want a program to install!  And 
he does use a certificate; a PFX file.  But the interesting thing about this 
cert is that he has an extra exacutable in the folder that is called 
InstallCert.exe, which I'd assume is used to install the certificate into the 
trusted root certification authorities store.  I'll have to ask him, but I 
firmly believe that it's self-signed.
