1. No. 2. BITS is not more reliable than the Burn http downloader with retries.

I have a Burn/mba driven multiple MSIs (100+), most of which have external cabs. Most testing of this of this setup results in successful installation although one remote tester is reporting a high download failure rate. I have duplicated the same failure on rare occasions. Curiously the failure is always related to one external cab file, which is 90 MBs, by far the largest file in my chain. (The next closest size is 20 MBs.) This cab file is a Payload to a third-party MSI, so I cannot change the structure of this third-party application. I also do not have any direct control over the configuration of the corporate web site which is hosting these files. I heard that it is a Windows server running Apache web site, but I still need to get solid information. I looking for a way in my project to mitigate these issues, or a plan to propose changes, which the boss can discuss with the IT/web server managers. Is there a way to split large cab files across several 'containers'? Should I be proposing that a BITS service be configured on the web server? (I just heard of the term and don't really know if this is relevant). Are there any particular tools/test approach that I should use to narrow down the random nature of the failures (yet always seems related to this particular file) and be certain that we have a robust download process in implemented? Any advice would be appreciated.
