This is probably related to the --enable-xrandr option and you probably have a nvidia card, right? Some other people related similar problems.
I did a quick compile and test using --disable-xrandr and it appears that you are correct: it allows fullscreen video games to work.
Right, but that version had no --enable-xrandr option and it is default off until someone motivated enough fixes this issue with fullscreen on some systems (it works for me on my laptop).
I have a Radeon X850 video card, so it looks like it's not just nvidia cards. May I ask what video card you have?
