I agree with you about the default WMState being spartan as it is.
But you are the Debian maintainer of wmaker, you can make things
happen regarding which dockapps you have on debian's default
installation.
In the wmaker package I should install only what I need, not a lot of stuff
that, probably I will not use. These packages are included in the
debian/control file. For this reason, the wmaker package MUST install only the
things that wmaker needs to run. (see below).
And think about users out there who might want to try wmaker as
an experiment before deciding what to use. If the default "desktop"
they see is just a xterm and a clip, they might be thrilled by
the minimallistic approach or they will move on to the next
experiment as soon as they plug a USB stick and "nothing happens".
Ok, probably we need a new package "wmaker-standard" to include some dockapps
and themes. We can work together on this, because can be included in the WMLive CD, other
distros,...
Hi!
I'm right now reverting old congfiguration to the upstream one in
Mageia. The only changes I am planning to implement into WindowMaker are:
- use generic xvt for a terminal emulator
- dockapps: wmcalclock, wmsystray, wmvolman - I'm thinking also of wmlaptop
- change the behaviour of the "About GNUStep" button, and pick there the
configuration (one free space for a dock)
Is it worth to include special packs with pixmaps? I personally don't
see it necessary.
