Hello all,

(posting on the dev list since this is rather technical)

WM's 'unshade' seems to use multiple Expose events, usually most
of them with event->count == 0, to make an app repaint its window.
Apparently the idea is have some sort of animation, but this
happens even when all animations and 'superfluous effects' are
disabled.

With some apps this is makes no sense at all. If an app ignores
Expose with count > 0 (for efficiency or any other reason) and
just repaints its whole window when receiving an Expose with
count == 0, it is forced to repeat this ten times or so. And
looking at the sequence of events and the data they provide,
there seems to be no reliable way to detect which of the Expose
events is the final one.

So my question is: can this be disabled somehow ?

Ciao,

A world of exhaustive, reliable metadata would be an utopia.
It's also a pipe-dream, founded on self-delusion, nerd hubris
and hysterically inflated market opportunities. (Cory Doctorow)
