The chances of making a third-party application look consistent with wmaker is fairly slim these days, old GTK2 apps with the GTK2-Step theme notwithstanding. If we can approach the problem the other way and make wmaker look like the apps then I'm in favour.

That said, I struggled to come up with any colourschemes which don't look bad because the same colours are used in too many places due to the limited palette. If we could expand that palette I think there is real potential here.
