Sounds like a glitch in the debian installation. The file, as found in the 
sources, is name autostart.sh. The installation should change this to aimply 
'autostart' and make the file executable. And the routine which sets up each 
users ~/GNUstep directory should copy this file (autostart) into that directory.

Since the debian maintainer for wmaker is now the official maintainer of 
WindwoMaker itself, hopefully you can get the matter resolved properly.
