Well it does that. The "autostart" file is in
~/GNUstep/Library/WindowMaker. It just doesn't work. This worked fine
under Lenny, But under Squeeze it's not working. Under Lenny I had some
Xfce bits in there that may have been handling autostart apps. Under
Squeeze it's pure Window Maker.

The reason I am trying to sort this out, is that for the last 4-5
months I've been building a Window Maker distro. Actually, I started
with AfterStep, but quickly decided WM would be better. I'm currently
working on the next (4th) Beta release and I'm trying to resolve some
issues. This autostart thing being one of them. I may end up back on
Lenny since some dock apps aren't working properly under squeeze
either. My distro uses the Dreamlinux distro as a base. I'm actually
part of their dev team now. The newer Dreamlinux has moved to a squeeze
base, which is why my distro uses squeeze. Maybe it's Dreamlinux, since
the latest version is still Alpha. The previous Dreamlinux I used was
v3.5 and it was Lenny based. Everything worked there. But, like I said,
I left some Xfce bits in it.

After seeing my latest desktop screen shots, people are emailing me for
a release date. So, hopefully I can sort this out soon. I would like to
see Window Maker back in the spotlight again. Oh, my distro site is:
http://www.dreamstep.org just in case anyone is interested. The old
ISOs are offline (unless someone is still seeding the torrent). I
should have the new release online soon.

Thanks again for the help!

Ed
