Actually, if you have configured yourself to be in the right group and
permissions, that is if you can type "mount" for your USB stick as a
user, then GWorkspace has the feature "check for disks" and will
auto-mount a certain number of paths.
You can configure those in "SystemPreferences" under "Volumes".
But you are still struggling to get everything executing smoothly on
your box, unfortunately.
