I did vi .xinitrc in Terminal, here's what I got (see below).

When I login to my system though, no Window Maker starting. Everything looks
and feels exactly the same as the default GNOME desktop that ships with
CentOS.

Terminal Output:

PATH="$PATH:/usr/local/bin"

# If you login from xdm, uncomment this to make error messages appear
# in the console window.
#
# tail -f "/home/gempak"/.xsession-errors > /dev/console &

exec wmaker

That sentence doesn't imply anything, really. There's no meaning for
a KDE or GNOME environment when using Window Maker, Those lines in the
installation script will be removed to avoid confusion.

Just make sure you have a line like

exec /usr/local/bin/wmaker

in your .xinitrc, as that will start wmaker as your window manager.
