If it happened just once, perhaps it was a once-in-a-time init issue.
What is "GDesktop"? do you refer to GWorkspace own desktop? in that case the
Recycler app shouldn't be running, because the GWorkspace's Dock is enabled. It is either
on or the other.
I found a menu option called the recycler, in the GWorkspace menu, and that's
where the trouble began. Seems fine now, I start up the Recycler.app docked in
WindowMaker without trouble, on its own now.
Yes, it should work, Recycler.app is just a separate application and
GWorkspace will check for its existence. The only thing is that to have
it started from WindowMaker, you need to be able to run the binary
(check the executable properties in the wmaker icon),
If you are using the traditional GS setup (or well, Debian will all
mangle up the files around in a FHS style layout and install a start
scritp: thus you need to change wmaker's property to that binary if you
don't want to source the GNUstep.sh file first) yo uned to source the
GNUstep.sh.
All in all, I don't kn0w exaclty hwo Debain sets up things, my ol'
debian laptop just has X stopped working after the last upgrade....
If you are running debian packages, you are probably running stone-age old
stuff (0.8.8 ?). Please open a bug to get a newer version! In 2-3 years,
GNUstep improved a lot in terms of bugs both in GWorkspace as in its core and
Debian packags ridiculous stuff which makes us bad publicity.
Perhaps with another bug report they will finally update
I'll check the versions.
And in case, report Debian please :)
Indeed, if you like GNUstep stuff, you are welcome, but windowmaker is a
separate project since many years. Come over, we're open.
Having recently played with a Mac, I find objective C and the NextStep
technology interesting. I did write a simple hello world app and then try to
port it to Linux with GNUstep, and run into minor trouble, both with the
documentation and the differences between the platforms.
Still, interesting. I'd like to play more in that environment.
I hope you get more interested, come over to GNUstep if you like it.
