In my opinion that switch panel is aesthetically the least attractive Windowmaker's feature (mostly because of it's default blue color that just doesn't fit). The decision to enable this feature by default and not providing an option in WPrefs to disable it definitely isn't the best decision made by Windowmaker developers/maintainers.
