Hello!

I love windowmaker, but I have just one problem with it.There are certain
programs- pcmanfm, vlc, iceweasel, and deadbeef, that I like open to a
certain size and place on my screen. Depending on the file, these open to
any shape and size imaginable, and resizing them constantly is annoying. I
was told xwininfo would give me information on my windows, which can be
used to place the programs where I want. I just can't seem to figure out
what files to change to accomplish this.

When I use xwininfo to get info on iceweasel, for instance, i get this
output:
xwininfo: Window id: 0x1a000c8 "Window Maker: Mailing Lists - Iceweasel"

  Absolute upper-left X: 20
  Absolute upper-left Y: 33
  Relative upper-left X: 0
  Relative upper-left Y: 22
  Width: 1593
  Height: 1000
  Depth: 24
  Visual: 0x21
  Visual Class: TrueColor
  Border width: 0
  Class: InputOutput
  Colormap: 0x20 (installed)
  Bit Gravity State: NorthWestGravity
  Window Gravity State: NorthWestGravity
  Backing Store State: NotUseful
  Save Under State: no
  Map State: IsViewable
  Override Redirect State: no
  Corners: +20+33 -307+33 -307-47 +20-47
  -geometry 1593x1000+19+10

I'm assuming something in this file shows the proper placement and
dimensions of iecweasel-the geometry or upper left/right stuff.

I couldn't really find anything in the docs about placing windows exactly
the same size and shape, so I tried a few extra programs like devilspie
(aptly named- tell me the devil wrote that one, and I'll have no problem
believing you), and wmctrl (which was too hard to understand). With all the
files on Windowmaker, there surely must be some way to accomplish this task
within Windowmaker itself, and I'm just overlooking it? Or if I must use a
third party program, is there one that wasn't written by a devil or a
rocket scientist, and can be understood by a person with no programming
skills whatsoever?

I'm using Debian Jessie- latest version of Windowmaker.

Thanks for any help anyone can give me!

Michelle
