Heh. In my old days I could have ranted about this, but now I see it
kind of like a human nature issue. Assume your apartment is rather
small, you're happy there with one or two people.

Others start to move in. The apartment doesn't get any bigger.
Eventually the refigerator is more and more difficult to fill.

Now think of the apartment as being the planet (it is finite,
regardless of what "religious" or mythological fervor may have
inferred. Who'd'a thunk we might be filling it up with too few
bedrooms and too small a refigerator while we were tending to the
whole shebang).
