I'm not surprised to see the Globe on the list, based on the ownership. If something has to be sacrificed to save the Times, it will be sacrificed to save the Times. Frankly, the Times could publish a New England edition and pick up a quarter of those subscribers. The Plain Dealer will survive. Advance sucks, but there are a lot of merger/combination possibilities among Cleveland, Akron, Canton and Youngstown. Also, as Wikipedia notes --
"The Plain Dealer's media market, Greater Cleveland, is ranked #1 in the country for Sunday newspaper readership percentage (75.4% of total adults) and #2 in daily newspaper readership percentage (62.6% of total adults), second only to New York Times in the weekday editions.[5]" Also also, Advance owns all of the suburban weeklies. If they want to single-handedly re-shape the way news is delivered in Cleveland, they can. I am telling you, the Plain Dealer outlives the Akron Beacon-Journal, the Repository in Canton and the Vindy in Youngstown. ====== AIM/Gmail Chat: damonbeau :: :: Wealth without work.
