A LOUD, ANNOYING NOISE] Fran Drescher Gets Talk Show On FOX O&Os y Kevin Downey VNewsCheck, October 11, 2010 12:12 PM EDT Fox Television Stations and Debmar-Mercury will co-produce a preview of The ran Drescher Show. Starting Friday, Nov. 26, the daily weekday program will e available on the Fox O&Os in New York (WNYW), Los Angeles (KTTV), hiladelphia (WTXF), Phoenix (KSAZ), Minneapolis (KMSP) and Orlando (WOFL). The Fran Drescher Show will be a daily, one-hour entertainment talk show tarring the actress, comedian, screenwriter, television director, producer nd author. Broadcast live from Los Angeles, the program will feature rescher's commentary on "captivating topics, current events, pop culture nd interviews," according to FTS. Drescher starred in the 1990's CBS sitcom The Nanny, which earned Primetime mmy and Golden Globe Award nominations. After a six-year run, the series ecame a success in off-network syndication. A rape and cancer survivor, rescher went on to become a leading proponent of cancer prevention, ehabilitation and medical research following her diagnosis in 2000. Ira Bernstein, co-president of Debmar-Mercury, said today: "With a talent ho hasn't done a talk show, we test it. We believe in testing as a method o find out if you have a great talk show host or a great guest. We think he will be a great talk show host, which is why we're investing money in his and Fox is investing money. "We don't want to miss the fall 2011 season. If you wait to test it in the ummer, you're really looking at 2012. "We're working on the format right now. I think it will be a combination of uests and issues. There will be celebrities on it, but it will probably be ore topic driven than guest driven, since Fran has been through so much and ome out the other side with humor. She has empathy for the most difficult hings women can go through. "We think the female daytime audience will embrace this woman who had verything - she was rich, famous, a sitcom star and producer - and yet she as survived the most horrible things you can survive. Not only did she urvive, she came out the side with a sense of humor. "There won't be political issues in the sense of Republican versus Democrat. ut she will tackle issues like health care. She may have a famous actress n, who isn't promoting a movie, but they're promoting a cause they're assionate about. "We're not prepared to discuss the exact scheduling, but it's a daytime show hat will air anywhere from 10 or 11 in the morning to 2 or 3 in the fternoon. We're not looking to test at 4 o'clock, to start. And there may e a couple of markets where The Wendy Williams Show is the lead in, but hat has not been finalized." Serving as executive producer of the talk show, Drescher will work alongside alk, game and reality show producer Scott Sternberg and producing partner, eter Marc Jacobson. Lonnie Burstein, executive vice president of rogramming and production for Debmar-Mercury, spearheaded the development f the project and will oversee it on behalf of Debmar-Mercury. Scott ternberg Productions will produce the preview episodes. egards, KGB ----- evin G.
