I'm sorry for late response. I've not got my email client right to
handle mailing lists and thought project was stale for several weeks.
Thanks for your patch for WODEN-218. Did you start working on any
other JIRA issues ?
No, actually I had decided to move on to other project after seeing no
activity here. But I would still like to pitch in.
Sagara, I guess, you would be the right person to ask what's worth
working on? It appears, you've fixed a lot of issues and many of them
are not committed, so it would not be wise for me just to pick one.
And congratulations on your new status!
Nikita

Hi Sagara,
I believe John and Lawrence have moved on to other projects. I
myself
have too, but I would like to encourage anyone who wishes to get
involved in Woden and help bring on new committers to keep the
project
alive. I'll take a look at some of the JIRA issues / patches you
mention.

If i recall my memory we released our latest version in April
2008 and
there was a plan to release Woden 1.0 within 2008. now we are in
7th
month of 2009 and far behind from original plan.
I'm also wonder there were not much involvement from some of the
most
active people like John or Lawrence in recent past. Jeremy , do you
have any idea about their silence ..?
Recently i have completed number of significant issues including
serialization, I'm also stuck now and no way to go ahead without
committing those patches.
I'm planing to post a quick plan separately to restart our
development works and reach to 1.0 ASAP. I like to include
following
areas to that plan.
1. Merging other branches in to trunk. ( 209 and 65)
2. Refactoring effort for more Maven compliant. (211)
3. Some of the significant patches .
4. Moving to other areas targeting 1.0 release.
Devs , any comments ....?
Thanks ,

Hi, thanks for your interest. You're right, there hasn't been
much activity
recently. Please go ahead and pick any of the tasks outstanding
that
interest you. I'm happy to review/commit patches you attach to a
JIRA - as
long as the ASF assignment is checked :-)
To everyone, AFAIK none of the current JIRA issues are being
worked on.
Perhaps we should reset the 'assignee' field on them all to
'unassigned' to
more acurately reflect the status and given an opening to
newcomers to pick
up tasks. WDYT?

Hi everybody,
I'm looking for ways to contribute and I'm new to open source
(but not
java) development. There are several resources suggesting what
has to be
done, like
http://wiki.apache.org/ws/FrontPage/Woden/TaskList
http://ws.apache.org/woden/dev/1.0/milestoneplan.html
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/Woden
but most open tasks already assigned to somebody. On the other
hand, many
of them are not updated for months, if not years. So, what
would be the best
way to start here?
Thank you,
Nikita Rybak
