I think this should be taken to the mailing list for discussion. It doesn't
prevent this widget being committed to scratchpad (widgets in there are
experimental and not expected to be fully functional).
The Widget-Page communication issue should probably be taken to the mailing
list so we can discuss the best implementation. When I commit this to version
control I'll open a new issue to track progress.
