This is my final message about this topic, Australia-Malaysia
comparison, unless you want that we enhance it toward any particular
direction, about their economies, of course.

Below you will find some links where you can find some economic macro
indicators about both economies. In my opinion, that information,
combined with those graphs that I already posted from Gapminder, show
accurate pictures of them.

We have seen in former messages that, from an economic perspective,
there are much more similarities between both countries that we might
expect before we analyse information. Both are in the same bloc, we
could call it an extended ASEAN.

As seen before, main difference is that Malaysian economic structure
is much more Asian, more focuss on manufacturing than Australia.

Main advantages of Malaysia are not in current economy strictu sensu,
but on what prof. Paul Krugman described as the "geographical hubs" as
we saw in the first thread of this topic. Quote from an OECD report
(1): "While Australia has a competition-friendly regulatory framework,
geographical segmentation in the electricity, transport and water
management sectors limits productivity advances in network industries
and the economy more generally.". More and more, energy will be the
key issue of any economy if it is not already today, Australia in into
disadvantage due to its geography, while exactly the opposite happens
in Malaysia.

Also from that report (1) "the organisation of the Early Childhood
Education and Care (ECEC) sector is fragmented and the sector is under-
funded. Provision of services is insufficient, of unequal quality and
relatively
expensive.". This is a Western problem rather than an Australian
problem only. Somehow, Australia shares anglo-saxon scheme of
education what is its main second disadvantage for its future. More
"Asian" scheme might, and probably will be, in place at some point in
the future. Maybe with conflicts, maybe not, I do not know.

On the possitive side, Australia is more "developed" nowdays. Also,
its economic structure is more stable (this could be seen as a
disadvantage as well regarding the changes that they both have to
face).

A a very quick conclusion or opinion, I would say that in the very
short term (10 years or shorter) if one finds an opportunity in
Australia its probabability of stable success will be higher. However,
skilled individuals use to find opportunities in places where those
skills are scarce.

Beyond that timeframe, around 10 years, Malaysia seems more promising.

In Malaysia, domestic markets will grow dramatically, in particular
goods for domestic consumption or business to buisiness for locals.

In Australia, exports Australia to Asia will be probably its key
field.

In the very short term, financial situation in both countries seems
good compared with average economies. Probably more in Malaysia as
governmental control and regulation is stronger.

I hope this thread and the previous ones (2) are useful. Do not
hesitate to make any comment, question, disagreement, or whatever you
want.

Peace and best wishes.

Xi
