My comment: I am not a Chengdu resident and I was not born in Chengdu.
However, since I lived there in summer 2008 that city and its people
made me love it. Few times, if ever, I felt so intense what good human
beings are. So much compassion facing desperation, so much
selflessness facing scarcity of food, water, roof, etc. so many
friendly hands ready for people in need of some help. I had to leave
but only under parole to myself that I will go back one day to see how
those wonderful people restored one of the most astonishing cities in
this planet.

Two good news these days comforted me. Everyone who lost home in the
earthquake and still live in temporary houses will have their
permanent home by New Year Eve in February 14.

And second good news is that, scheduled to be completed in 2014, a
high-speed railway linking Xi'an with Chengdu has won approval.
Therefore in 2014 or 2015 I will visit Chegdu. This time just to
admire you and your people.
