I closed the bug as "won't fix".
Just to ponit out, performance isn't THAT terrible in windowed mode i
believe. I get 25 fps on my old computer when there's stuff running in the
background so I guess recent intel-based macs would get very acceptable
framerates. (The OS X compositing method allows for tear-less window dragging
and resizing and always perfect visual effects but is effectively slowing
down non-OpenGL games running in windowed mode.)
Now it's just a matter of SDL fixing fullscreen support (double-buffering IS
supported, it's probably the old SDL implementation wasn't able to make use
of it because of limitations in its structure?) so we are waiting on SDL 1.3
in hope that it works.
