I think so too. Some kind of error is raised by libpng, and it happens with
random map, which creates a png file.
I bet the file creation is possible, but no data can be written into it.
Unfortunately, I can't see how libpng allows us to catch this problem before
a problem is caused.
As for the personal data being erased, same problem: files are opened
(truncated) in spite of no space left, freeing space immediately reclaimed by
the system. But when attempting to write those files, nothing is written,
leading to truncated files.
So yes, it's just that you had no space left on your drive. I'm flagging this
as "wontfix" then.
