[wp-polyglots] Changing charset in UTF-8 .po file

How do I change the character set in my .po file (UTF-8 into ISO-8859-1) 
without harming the translation? Changing the charset in Project info 
(Catalog + Settings) is obviously not the right way.

Anyone?
