Hi list, I've been quiet here for quite some time (years?!), but now that my life is a little calmer (don't ask) I'm ready to get a little more involved in language issues surrounding wordpress.
I'm personally quite happy with the .org French translation, but much much less with the wordpress.com one -- and as I use .com a lot with my French-speaking clients, I actually have a professional interest in it being as good as possible. Just today, I noticed a stray "n" in an e-mail about an e-mail address change. Not an extra n in a word, no, a stay n after a comma somewhere after the greeting. Is somebody "in charge" of the wp.com French translation? I know I can contribute to it through the translate.wordpress.com interface, and have done so more than once, but usually there are so many things to fix in it that it's quite discouraging to do it in this format. Also, there are regularly issues between the various flavours of French -- particularly fr-qc, which tends to be quite different from fr-ch. Any possibility of splitting things? I'd be more than happy to take charge of a fr-ch version. If this list is not the right place for this, let me know! cheers Steph -- Espace Coworking Lausanne: http://eclau.ch Subscribe to my newsletter: http://groups.google.com/group/sbooth web: http://stephanie-booth.com | blog: http://climbtothestars.org skype: steph-booth | cell: +41 78 625 44 74 | twitter: stephtara | AIM: Gummywabbit geotag: Lausanne, Switzerland (GMT+1) | For the rest...
