XML doesn't backup all right? Or I'm missing something? XML doesnt
backup additional table that plugins made right? XML can't be
scheduled and result can't be mailed right?

Sure it can, I have a plugin to do it. I had to modify the export to
mail, but just like the WP DB backup plugin, its just that, a plugin.
(Which I'll likely release and mail this list about later tonight,
assuming I get the last of the kinks worked out).

I'm wrong if I say this is only a partial replacement and not a really
alternative solution?

Alternative solutions will come in plugins, just like the db backup
was an alternative to nothing at all to begin with.
