page,not posts. from what I have seen thus far it seems not to be

I have worked around it by editing postid=1 to match the page but it
did not let me select pageid=3 to my main page.

I see your point. However valid it is, WordPress now has its own feature
that is setup to allow such actions. but it seem to not be working.
