I also want to pass along that when I created a backup from clicking on
the backup button, the XML file was saved to my desktop but each time I
double click it, I get an error saying Windows could not find the
specified file, even though it opens in Aptana for editing.

Have you tried again? To see if it was a once-off fluke?
