Should we also celebrate his annexationist vision? His advocacy for wars
in Mexico and Cuba, and the expansion of his beloved "America" into
"Indian" lands? Maybe we could dedicate an hour of the day to honour the
universal appeal and wisdom of the manifest destiny. We in Canada could
use that hour to rue the fact that his vision was never fully realized.
