Hi Steve, having read the email poem you're commenting on, I agree that your question makes sense.  However, wasn't it Jack Micheline, one of your heroes, who wrote in his most famous poem: "I tell you, I tell you, all people are enslaved"?  As a nonblack who feels enslaved to the American system, government and economic, as it exists now, Micheline's poem, in which he repeats this statement over and over again has real relevance to the issue of slavery and to me.  A great movie came out about slavery recently called "Manderlay" by Lars Von Trier.  It came and went fairly quickly, unfortunately. I hope you saw it or see it.
