Hi all,
I'm new to the forum but have been using WS_FTP for years, its simply the
best ftp client out there.
I've been using 6.7 pro for some time now but recently upgraded to 7.04.
I'm using WS_FTP 6.7 on one machine and 7.04 on another.
After upgrading to 7.04 my sessions have become VERY slow. It takes 30 secs
to connect and about the same amount of time to change directories or
complete a transfer. Where as on 6.7 and all the previous versions, it took
about 5 to 10 secs.
After connecting I see a message in the status bar that says "waiting on
server response"- this message will sit there for some time before the
remote directory will finally pop in.
All the settings seems to be identical- as the upgrade has left them in
place.
Like I say I still have 6.7 on the other machine and go over to it and make
the same transfer in a third of the time.
Any ideas why this is?

Also- in 6.7- as I waited on the connection, my local directory was sitting
there ready and I could begin queuing up my files--- in 7.04 I'm staring at
the Ipswitch directory until the actual connection has been made. This is
minor, I know, but why was that changed?

Also- the extensions I've set, as far as what I want transferred as binary
or ASCII, are not being transferred as I have set them. If I send a .cgi
script over, and I have .cgi set as being ASCII, the script won't work. I
assume because it's actually being sent as a binary file.
I have all accounts set to auto- detect.
The only way I could fix this was to reinstall 6.7- then it worked
perfectly.

Thanks for any help with these problems. I would love to use 7.04 but it
looks like I'll have to stick with 6.7 if I can't get these things cleared
up.
Thanks
Daf
