I've noticed running WS FTP Server in SSL mode costs a lot of overhead because of the encryption. I'm only running (testing) it on an older Compaq Proliant (P2/500MHz w/ 512MB RAM) and the transfers drop from 6000 KB/s and up to around 400 KB/s or worse. I was wondering what other people are getting for SSL transfers so I have some idea what kind of hardware I should be looking at for the real machine.
