These options do not work. I sent an email to IPSwitch and they confirmed
it and said that they would look into it further. I haven't heard back
since then (it was about 2 weeks ago.) Hopefully they will have a patch or
it will get fixed in the next release. The good news is that the process
doesn't automatically bump down to an insecure connection unless you
specifically tell it to using the dialog.

Subject: [WS_FTP Forum] SSL modes in script doesn't work
Date: Fri, 20 Sep 2002 13:54:25 +0800

To my knowledge, there are 3 modes of SSL in WS_FTP.
SSL 1: If the SSL connection fails, the script will end.
SSL 2: If the SSL connection fails, and the remote server has SSL
configured,
the user is asked if the remote certificate should be added to the Trusted
Authority database. If the remote server is not SSL enabled, the user is
asked
if an unsecured connection should be made.
SSL 3: If the SSL connection fails, an unsecured connection will be made
automatically.

However, no matter which mode I used in my script, it never works. It just
hang
at the "234 SSL enabled and waiting for negotiation" (according to the
trace).
This happens after I remove the ca root cert from the Trusted Authority
database
in WS_FTP Pro 7.5 for testing purpose.
Anyone tested these 3 modes before and found them to be working as stated by
ipswitch? If yes, pls advise.
