Well, it's not a WS-FTP solution, but you DID say "anything..."
There is an FTP automation product called MOVEit Central by a company called Standard Networks you might want to check out if you need to do automated transfers of any kind - especially FTP. (http://www.stdnet.com/moveitcentral)
Specifically, you could do what you are talking about below with a single MOVEit Central task. Simply define the task source to be the directory which holds all the "CustomerA.Monthly.Bill" reports.
Next, define the task destination to be a directory
called "/myreports/[OnlyName]/" on your AIX UNIX FTP
server. ("OnlyName" is a macro which peels off
everything from the filename before the first period.)
Finally, schedule the task to run automatically every few minutes, once a day, or on special days of the month. (You can even set it up to send you an email if a transfer fails or no files are found in the source folder!)
Depending on your situation you could also tell MOVEit Central to automatically delete the source files (only after a successful transfer) and/or create the destination folders automatically (in case files start showing up from a new customer). In any case, you're still talking about a single defined task with MOVEit Central...hope that helps!
