Yes, I agree music is important (even very breifly considered being a music
major in college before going the mathematics route) and sure don't want to
start a 'war' on the merits of music or not.

My primary point was that once the sound on a site is changed, either on or
off, it should remain in that state until changed again by the person for
all page views - a global change, if you will.
