I always start my designs with a photoshop concept, keeping in mind the limitations of the medium. Whether your using tables or CSS, there are always limitations if you want a site that is not one big image map.

One thing I have started doing when designing concepts is that instead of using the text tool in photoshop for body text that will later be replaced by html, I open up homesite and do a quick and dirty html page with the text i need, then just change the width, background and font colors, etc. The I do a screen grab and open it in photoshop, select, copy and paste what text i need into my concept.

It seems a bit overboard, but it keeps the client from complaining about what happened to the text and why it looks different in the concept.

Thanks to mark, Sarah, Mike and Wendy for their tips :-) Knowing what the other side is probably expecting when developing helped a lot.
