Safari 1 and IE 5 account for most Mac users at this point, I would think. You would want to make sure that the appearance of the menu degrades gracefully, if you decide to go this way.
Fails in: NN4, Opera 6.05 on Windows. Safari 1.0, IE5.2 on Mac
Im happy enough with that compatibility as theres a full text sitemap for people for whom the menu doesnt display properly.
