I have a print design background so I started producing websites using GoLive because the layout and preview modes felt like a more familiar work environment. As I've gained more experience and knowledge I've found I use the source code view much more (and understand what I'm looking at!).

Im a new boy to the discussion group. Pointed in this direction by Jeffery Zeldman's 'Designing with Web Standards'. I must say Web Standardshas been a 'breathe of fresh air' for me. Its the way forward, for sure. What Im not so sure about is using a code generator eg. Dreamweaver. Ive always hand coded my HTML, javascript, ASP, SQLetc using a text editor (past 4 years). What do people think about hand coding versus code generators? What percentage of developers totally hand code, use both, use only code generators? regards Simon<x-tad-smaller> </x-tad-smaller>
