I will echo what others have said about Dreamweaver. I consider it a supercharged text editor, using it mostly in Code View, and setting it to generate XHTML. The additional features Dreamweaver has for management of large sites, find & replace, and other time-saving tools make it very worth the price, in my opinion. I still hop over to Topstyle for editing my CSS, but the latest version of Dreamweaver does have decent CSS capabilities. I would think that since you are already familiar with coding by hand, Dreamweaver would be a good choice for you since it allows you to control your code, but also offers many fringe benefits.
Last I checked, you can download a fully functional demo from Macromedia to try it for 30 days. Pointed in this direction by Jeffery Zeldman's 'Designing with Web Standards'. I must say Web Standards has been a 'breathe of fresh air' for me. Its the way forward, for sure. What Im not so sure about is using a code generator eg. Dreamweaver. Ive always hand coded my HTML, javascript, ASP, SQL etc using a text editor (past 4 years). What do people think about hand coding versus code generators? What percentage of developers totally hand code, use both, use only code generators? regards Simon ***************************************************** The discussion list for http://webstandardsgroup.org/ See http://webstandardsgroup.org/mail/guidelines.cfm for some hints on posting to the list & getting help *****************************************************
