I often find myself in need of the Holly Hack for one reason or another. That's about the only one I will use. I tend to stay away from the Tantek hack if possible by not using border and padding together on divs.
Like many others who have replied to this thread, I try to not use hacks as much as possible. However, sometimes, it is inevitable for a particular layout you are trying to achieve.
