I am attempting to replace an image based navigation set in a top banner with a styled list of links.
If you have a look at this sample (http://www.thesamaras.com/_newsite2/home1.htm), you can see how I have set a specific height for each of the three list items; this is because the banner will contain an image, and I want the coloured right border effect to span the total height of the banner. My question is: how do I get the text in each list item to appear vertically in the middle of item? In other words, I want the text to appear midway between the top and bottom of the item, rather than at the top. I tried the 'text-align' property without success. Adding 'padding-top' in works, but it strikes me that that is a hit-and-miss approach eg. it fails if I choose to increase the font size.
