My point of view is do you want to make web page text page like word or object page for animation, interactivity as the CDROM ?
To my opinion we have to distinguish this two approaches, Text or object ? Each time we build a page we think the same way as we are building a Quark Page or a PDF document is that what we are expecting when creating web page? At this time we have to know what we want for the future of the web. When I build a cederom it is to bring information in an other way than text. It must be the same with web. It is better for a user to Download a Page and print the document than reading it on the web. Of course we can add text but for this we should have a kind of <pre> </pre> tag which keeps the layout of the text with the possibility to wrap the text depending of the size of the box. And If we realy want to add kind of brochure, tables, or long text there is already PDF which does the job pretty well and further more it has the write font. I Think it is very important to discuss this point of view because, web is not what we were expecting that's why Flash take a so important place in the design and advertisement compagnies because they don't find into the web what a graphic designer is looking for or has found with CDROM. In the same way we have to change the way the browser is functionning to reach a high level of interactivity. The article of Jon Udell is a interesting point of view about the future of the browser and web application. http://www.computerworld.com.au/index.php/id;147246581;fp;16;fpid;0 Berry ****************************************************** The discussion list for http://webstandardsgroup.org/ See http://webstandardsgroup.org/mail/guidelines.cfm for some hints on posting to the list & getting help ******************************************************
