well, not exactally what your intending, but :
#menu
{
float: left;
margin-top: 1.2em;
margin-left: 1em;
padding:0;
width: 9em;
line-height: 2em;
}
makes it play nice in FF/Win and IE6/Win. IE/Win dosn't play nice
with position:fixed; afaik.
