Sarah,
I suppose I really just wanted to see what others were doing, and
more importantly *why*. Perhaps a poll would be useful here?
Could be, but some check-points about "why" and "what do you know about
browser-modes" should be included. Would make an interesting read, me
thinks.
There seems to be several layers of knowledge around, so some statistics
could be useful _as part of_ a permanent reference for all those who
don't really have much of a clue -- and all those who couldn't care less
until they have to.
Guess it is confusing to many newbies to standard-based web design that
some of us run IE6 in quirks mode in order to achieve the best and most
standard-compliant results. It's the terms "standard" vs. "quirks"
that's most confusing I guess, as it really means "something else" in
IE6 than in real standard-compliant browsers.
Preparing for MSIE7, I expect to have to add some more weight to my CSS
sledgehammer: <http://www.gunlaug.no/contents/wd_1_02_01.html>
...and leave the philosophical part to my bug-hunting cat:

Lots of fun ahead...
regards
Georg
