I'm not 100% sure, but I believe so, yes. I was just brow-beaten offlist by someone because of my reply below. YES, I have an iPhone, but what I don't know is how to test - with JUST iOS Safari - whether of not a bg image is downloaded to Safari. I'd be glad to test it for you, if you can tell me how to confirm it.
