For example, in the line:
170800 9 -10 0.1 -46 7 * GB3CSB IO75XX 1***** A
The * after the 7 indicates that the message contained the "normal" sync
pattern for JT4. (Messages containing a signal report use an inverted
sync pattern.)
The ***** near line end is the result of a "quality" estimator being
numerically too large to be printed in 5 columns. (You're copying a
very strong signal.)
For interest, send me a *.wav file containing a record that decodes with
the ***** symbols. I'd like to look ate it.
