FWIW, if your rig supports VOX on the input where you feed TX audio, 
that's a far simpler option and generally works well. That's what I've 
done with all digital modes with my K3. One reason it works is that most 
modern rigs delay the output of RF long enough after the VOX has been 
triggere, that there's no hot switching of the T/R relay.  Likewise, 
rigs assert the KEY signal for a following linear amp 8-10 msec before 
generating RF, and on many modern rigs that delay is adjustable to 
accommodate slower relays.
