The option I'm thinking of you would never notice unless you need it. Leave it at 100% by default like you said. I just gave the 25% as an example.
I keep my transmitter at max power since about 65% power starts hitting the ALC and also, for PSK starts to intermod too much at about the same point. After seeing your comment I wonder if two options are needed....a % for tune and a % for transmit so you can adjust the max power for both?
