Currently WSJT and WSJT-X use different sound sub-systems. AFAIK WSJT 
uses portaudio whereas WSJT-X uses the audio interface provided by the 
QtAudio classes in Qt5 which on Linux is via the Pulse Audio server or 
ALSA direct.

In both cases I believe that a correctly set up audio device should be 
visible to and usable by the applications.

You will have to be more specific about what is being interfaced to what 
to get useful comments.
