To: WSJT-X Developers and Testers of Experimental Code With v1.7.0 r6283 I have made a first cut toward eliminating false decodes when the new JT65 decoder is used on a crowded HF band. I can now relax the embargo imposed yesterday (see messages copied below).
If you are helping us with tests of code in the development branch, it's again OK to build WSJT-X from the head of the development branch and use it (with care) on the air. AS ALWAYS: PLEASE DO NOT POST ANY BUILD FROM THE DEVELOPMENT BRANCH FOR PUBLIC DOWNLOAD. If you are experimenting with JT65 decoding, take note of the following: 1. On the Settings | Advanced tab, recommended settings for use on the HF bands include "Random erasure patterns = 8" and "Aggressive decoding level = 0". It's OK to use "Robust sync" and "Two-pass decoding"; the latter, especially, is recommended. (Settings under "Experience-based decoding" presently do nothing.) 2. Hinted decoding can presently be enabled by setting Sync = -1 and "Aggressive decoding level" to 1 or higher. (If you're not sure what this means, you should not be using this feature yet.)
