Bill,
I have been testing WSJT-X v 1.7.0 r6541 for several weeks now with generally
satisfactory results. I have been operating with either a Flex 6700 or a Flex
5000. I set WSJT-X to TS-2000 as the Flex rigs understand those Kenwood CAT
commands and I understand that the Flex 6xxx commands are not implemented into
WSJT-X at this point in time. I also normally operate with "Fake It", but "Rig"
and "None" seem to work fine as well (assuming that I expand the transmit and
receive bandwidths when using None).
Today I built Hamlib3 and WSJT-X 1.7.0 r6626 as a package and installed it on a
computer that I have dedicated to ham radio. Upon trying to run it with my Flex
6700, I immediately encountered rig control errors as the following screen
capture illustrates:
After some experimentation, I found that if I selected USB in WSJT-X (rather
than Data/Pkt) and placed the Flex in USB mode rather than the usual DIGU
(digital upper sideband) I could clear the error message and use WSJT-X
normally.
DIGU mode bypasses audio processing such as equalization, so it should be used
with WSJT-X.
I assume that this is a Hamlib3 bug and hopefully one that can be easily
squashed.
Thanks for your fine work on this software.
